Well I do actually, this is just one blog amongst many, and I also have a life that has not much to do with blogging...
Anyway, one of the things I've been spending time with the past few months is self-publishing and I currently have a book almost ready to release into the world. And when you self-publish, you also have to Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-44745345211970771412014-08-02T22:23:00.000-07:002014-08-02T22:23:01.552-07:00Something to Spread the Word About!Oh wow, has it really truly been this long since I made a new post on this blog? I just checked, and yes, my last post on this blog was in September last year! Oh dear, I loved this blog so much, how and why did it all go so wrong?
Never mind. I've been doing other things, working on other blogs I have, that seemed more important, more relevant to my life at the time. I read a post on Facebook Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-32368826256855755022013-09-05T23:56:00.000-07:002013-09-05T23:56:05.264-07:00Oh, this poor, little blog...I was so keen and excited when I got this blog up and running all those years ago. Then I thought of another subject to blog on, and started another blog, and then another differently themed blog and then another.
Then I was convinced to give another blogging platform a go, and slowly my posts on this blog faded away. I feel so sorry for this blog, I'm sorry and ashamed of myself for ignoring itCarolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-73708649156444984672013-04-02T01:39:00.000-07:002013-05-02T03:48:17.636-07:00Dogs or Cats - which one do your prefer? This is a subject that interests me. I think there are big differences between 'dog' people and 'cat' people. I'm definitely a 'dog' person, and I have a theory that cats are eventually going to take over the world.
I have a short story I wrote a few years ago, based on this theory. The short story is fiction. Or is it? Whatever, I have some of my thoughts are in a fictional story which Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-54152537740865097622013-03-17T02:22:00.000-07:002013-03-17T02:22:25.427-07:00News from the Fish PondI checked out our gold fish in the fish pond yesterday. There was a bit of a coating of yellow over the top of the pond, which I think is from our pine trees. It didn't stop the fish from finding the fish food I sprinkled there for them though.
I'm pleased to be able to report that all nine of the fish were there, including the young one that appeared a few weeks ago. The birds were there, company for me in the warming morning,
talking to each other as I listened and looked, trying to identify
their words, spying on their ways, and keeping count of their
differences.

wing flips

This means our dogs will spend almost all of the day inside, where it's lovely and cool, and where there's plenty of water to drink.
We live in the Mallala district, 60 km or so from the capital city, Adelaide. The forecast for tomorrow, which I saw on the ABC news a few minutes ago, showed a forecast high of 37 degrees celsius.Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-78235437731149535652012-10-22T01:52:00.000-07:002012-10-22T01:52:03.147-07:00Dogs, High Priced Dry Food and Food ScrapsAs a former dog exhibitor and breeder, I've been exposed to many ideas on the best food to give my dogs for optimal results. When we were right into showing and breeding, our dogs ate top quality dry food, costing many many dollars for a 20 kilo bag. Our dogs and the puppies that were born had gleaming coats and were in top condition.

In the backyard, the dogs come into their own, they're hunters, they love to hunt! It's been an ongoing thing for us at this time of year though - creatures, wild ones, are out and about, looking for food, mates and whatever else they need when Spring comes along. Lah Dee, show name Holkschter Lah Dee Dah, is having his 6th birthday today, according to my calendar. So we've lived with this funny and frustrating hound for six years. He drives us crazy with his naughty habit of digging holes on the back lawn, but he makes us laugh with his funny ways and his goofy playfulness.

We've got four dogs living at our place. I don't have a paid job, and I have lots of spare time. Add to that the fact that I quite like cooking, and you have to wonder why I don't make yummy treats for our dogs!
They have quite eclectic tastes, they love vegetables and fruit, they Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-38303884256473181592012-07-20T01:10:00.000-07:002012-07-20T01:17:28.451-07:00Spring is on the Way!Even though it's still winter, and cold, I can sense that spring is on its way. Winter used to be my most hated season, but I'm liking it more that I used to, now, for health reasons. I'm enjoying the way winter keeps me from overheating!
I'm glad that spring is on the way though, the birds are chirping more, and they all seem more chipper with it! I love those chipper chirpers! And I know the Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-62401955367510386472012-06-10T19:58:00.000-07:002012-06-10T19:58:55.880-07:00Two Fish Still Missing, Feared Dead.I went down the back of our place yesterday and sat with the fish for a while. I had the fish food with me and fed them. This is how I can count them - the water is quite murky and I can only see a few inches down.
Unfortunately, I only saw the same nine fish that I saw last time, so the solid orange goldfish and the shubunkin seem to have disappeared. I haven't seen their dead bodies, but Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-17293866340575364822012-05-31T00:27:00.000-07:002012-05-31T00:27:28.526-07:00Another Fish Count Day TodayI went down to our pond today to sit in the glorious late Autumn sunshine. Even though it's going to be winter tomorrow, today was a gloriously lovely day. The sunshine is nearly over, and we didn't have as much sun today as yesterday, but it was still a pleasant day to be sitting by the pond for a little while.I put some fish food into the pond for our goldfish, and counted the ones that came upCarolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-29598706386036170702012-05-29T02:49:00.001-07:002012-06-05T18:42:24.787-07:00Mammary Tumours in DogsToday our schnauzer, Nena, has been in the surgery of our vet. She has had a lump, a mammary tumour, that we should have dealt with much earlier. Money was a bit of the reason, perhaps, for not acting sooner. But that isn't an excuse. As dog owners, it is our responsibility to do the right thing for the health of our dog.
Nena is a lovely member of our family, and I sincerely hope she will be Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-73302241272270558412012-05-15T02:35:00.000-07:002012-05-15T03:09:46.915-07:00My List of Birds
I have a book, inside this book is a handwritten list. The
list is a record of the common and scientific names of every different kind of
bird that I have been able to identify on our property in Redbanks South Australia.
I began this list some time after we moved to Redbanks, but I’m not sure how
long after we moved I began the list.
We moved out of the suburbs and into the country in Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-63827936528384650032012-04-14T22:41:00.000-07:002012-04-14T22:41:00.042-07:00Is it OK to Let A Dog Lick Me?Have you ever been told that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's mouth? Did you believe it?
I've been told the same thing, but I certainly won't let my dogs lick my face, and I discourage them from licking me anywhere. It's not that I think they're got filthy mouths necessarily, but I know that most dogs, and my four dogs in particular, aren't terrible fussy about the things they eat and Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-52796190192171646252012-04-13T22:21:00.000-07:002012-04-13T22:21:10.106-07:00I love AutumnI have to say, this Autumn day I'm having right now would have to be the most perfect weather possible. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and there's a lovely cool breeze outside.
I'm not out there in the lovely weather though. I haven't been outside at all today, I only know it's lovely because of what I can see, looking out of the windows, and what I can feel - the breeze blowing in Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-46959607365489962552012-04-10T17:46:00.001-07:002012-04-10T17:46:14.012-07:00Which is the Perfect Pet for You?Choosing the right pet can be a tricky thing at times. It's separated out into different parts. There's the part our house is on, a fenced off backyard, fenced off pool area and a fenced off dog run.
The rest of our land has a fence all around it, different parts of the perimeter are able to be seen through or not, depending on which bit you're looking at. My husband Graham retired from the Australian Public Service about a fortnight ago. He's learning how to sleep in, and very much enjoying not having to travel to the office five days a week.

One female schnauzer, one male pharaoh hound and two female pharaoh hounds. None of the dogs have been desexed, but none of them are going to be used (again) for breeding.

As a loving and responsible dog owner, it’s hard not to spoil that

important to not let those extra treats and table scraps lead to too many extra

When the weather is too terrible for you to go or stay outside, don't forget your pet. Most pets can suffer too, when Nature gives us extreme weather.
At the moment, South Australia, where I live, has a forecast of 39 degrees celsius, with rain expected in the afternoon and evening. 39 degrees celsius is 102 Fahrenheit, that's too hot for me and for my dogs! So at the moment, I'm stayingCarolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492727397125602043.post-60702712226454406052012-01-01T18:15:00.001-08:002012-01-01T18:24:52.589-08:00Hot Day Again TodayToday in South Australia we're having 40 temperatures again. The people in the house are staying inside, apart from visits to the swimming pool as needed.
And the dogs? The dogs are all staying inside, and loving it. We have our evaporative cooler going and the dogs have water available in the house if they need it.
I hope nobody is stupid to leave any dogs inside their cars today. The Carolyn Cordonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16928724006245769572noreply@blogger.com0
